Series: The Prayers of the Righteous<o:p></o:p></div>
Reference Scripture:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>II
Chronicles 7:14<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 8pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span></div>
Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“Four
Steps to A Godly <u>Solution</u> – Step One: Humility”<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
The lesson aim is to explore the process for achieving
god-ordained solutions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More
importantly, all believers must learn to live by every word that proceedeth out
of the mouth of God. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Matthew
4:3-4)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
King Solomon is the main character in this particular
chapter of II Chronicles.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>King Solomon
is the son of David and the presiding king over God’s people, Israel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Solomon was chosen by God to succeed David as
king.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, Solomon was
chosen by God to build a permanent edifice for the presence of God to inhabit on
earth.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
Apparently, God is responding to Solomon’s prayer for God’s
WILL to be done according to the promise given to David.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In HIS
response God ordains four steps that will ultimately change the outcome of
earthly situations through heavenly intervention.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
2 Chron 7:14 – “If <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>my
people</u></b>, which are <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>called by
my name</u></b>, shall<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>humble</u></b> themselves,”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
God doesn’t leave room for speculation as to whom HE is
referring as “my people”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>David writes
in Psalms 24, “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world and
they that dwell therein”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This statement
of truth proclaims that everything and everybody is <u>subject</u> to God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, David does not suggest that
everybody has or is willing to <u>submit</u> to God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The determining factor that validates this
godly proclamation is God’s reference to “called by my name”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now, we can conclude that God’s people are
those that can be linked to the Abrahamic covenant and the nation of Israel. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Romans 4:16-17)</b> <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>According to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">I Peter 2:9</b>, those have chosen to be crucified with Christ are also
called by his name. [<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>called</u></b> -
qara (kaw-raw) – to call out to; to address by name]<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
God identifies humility as the first step toward
transformation. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>[Humble</u></b> kana`
(kaw-nah') - to bend the knee; hence, to humiliate, vanquish:]<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We must consider the order of these steps as
god breathed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><u>Thus, humility is very
important to the other steps being achieved.</u><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The act of humility before the Lord can touch
God’s heart and cause God to turn HIS wrath away from you. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: I Kings 21:27-29)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Humility unleashes the power of forgiveness.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Humility softens the heart and tames the
tongue of the righteous.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Humility
tenders our hearts and causes us to be patient in trials and tribulation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Humility is the door Christ used to become
our greatest example on <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>submission</u></b>
to the WILL of God. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
Philippians 2:6-8)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>God responds to
those that are willing to “humble themselves”. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Isaiah 57:15; 66:2)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The Apostle Peter charges all believers to submit to the will and ways
of God as a path to a better day and brighter tomorrow. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: I Peter 5:5-6)</b> <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
On the contrary, anyone that refuses to “humble themselves”
can develop a “hardened heart”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>A
hardened heart causes a person to walk in disobedience to God’s will, turn away
from God, or contend with God as HIS enemy. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
In conclusion, God is “not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance”. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference
II Peter 3:9b)</b> <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Humility opens the
way for us to access God’s divine power to touch, heal and deliver. Humility is
a “great paradox in Christianity that it makes humility the avenue to
glory."<o:p></o:p></div>

Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“Working
from a Clear Conscience”<o:p></o:p></div>
<span style="font-size: 8pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to encourage believers to stay focused on
the mission.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, all
believers must never allow the enemy to plant fear in our hearts to hinder the
works of God. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: II Timothy
1:7-10)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
As we review this situation we recognize that Daniel’s
freedom to pray has been violated. Interestingly, there are some similarities we
can see as we work to defend and protect the religious freedoms we enjoy today.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This desperate attempt to destroy Daniel
resembles present day initiatives seeking legislative approval to dismantle the
church.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Like Daniel the church is under
attack.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Christ warned us that we would
suffer persecution for “his name sake”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>What was Daniel
thinking?</u></b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>(It appears that
Daniel had received a copy of the decree.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>That being said Daniel shows no sign of fear, frustration or being
overly concerned about the content or consequences of the decree. Daniel could
have made other arrangements to pray without violating the decree and save his
job.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, Daniel chose not to
compromise his faith or abandon his beliefs to accommodate the king’s law.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Romans
12:2; I Corinthians 15:58; I Peter 5:8-9)</b> Daniel’s enemies had gone beyond
getting him fired from his job.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>These
men wanted Daniel dead.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>These men and
their evil works validate Peter’s warning to the church. Satan is always
searching for a vessel to use against us.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>And there’s always somebody out there willing to be used by Satan to
destroy us and our work. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
Mark 14:10-11; Luke 22:3-6)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>How important is
prayer in our lives?</u></b> (The text does not reveal the words of Daniel’s
prayer at this point or any time prior to this incident.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, we can conclude that Daniel was
trained to pray specifically and precisely about pressing matters. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: I Kings 8:28-30,38-39,46-51)</b>
Daniel prayed continually which lines up with the instructions for the New
Testament church. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Luke 18:1;
I Thess. 4:17)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Dan 6:10 – “Now when Daniel <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>knew</u></b> that the writing was signed<u>, he went</u> into his
house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, <u>he
kneeled</u> upon his knees three times a day, and <u>prayed, and gave thanks</u>
before his God, as he did aforetime.”<o:p></o:p></div>
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verse 11 – “Then these men assembled, and <u>found Daniel
praying and making supplication</u> before his God.”<o:p></o:p></div>
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>How do we deal
with matters that challenge our faith or force us to compromise our spiritual
beliefs?</u></b> (Daniel’s encounter with the enemy from within has become the
norm in the workplace, home, community and even the church.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Just as God delivered Joseph, David, Peter,
Paul and many others “called according to his purpose”, God will rescue us from
our enemies.)<o:p></o:p></div>
<o:p> </o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
In conclusion God will always reveal and expose the enemy’s
plot against HIS people.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Prayer keeps
the line of communication open to heaven.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Remember, “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much”.<o:p></o:p></div>

Means War”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-size: 8pt;"><o:p> </o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to warn the church of a silent enemy on
the loose.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, we must
sound the alarms to alert all those that have managed to stay clear of worldly
behavior to be on the lookout for a sneak attack. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: John 10:10)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>Spiritual warfare</u></b>
is a reality that most believers don’t understand.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Apostle Paul tries to warn the church on
how the devil has infiltrated the church; carnal vs. spiritul <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Romans 7:14)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In addition Peter also tries to warn the
church of the impending warfare that will arise as we get closer to the “end
time”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Peter reminds the church that
Christ is our commanding officer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And
all those that have enlisted in the “army of the Lord” must be willing to
follow the commands of our supreme leader if we hope to be victorious over our
greatest enemy, ourselves.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Subsequently,
Peter’s concerns should remind the church of other scriptural references that
were written to expose the enemy’s plot. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
As we review the text the main theme of this chapter is
“being good stewards of God’s grace”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We
must protect that that God has placed in our care.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><o:p></o:p></b></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verses 1-3 - <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“Forasmuch
then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>arm yourselves</u></b> likewise with the same mind: for he that hath
suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh</u></b> to
the lusts of men, but <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>to the will of
God</u></b>.3 For <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>the time past of
our life</u></b> may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when
we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings,
and abominable idolatries:”</i> – Peter polarizes the church to make a clear
distinction between living in the flesh and in the spirit. Peter brings to
light the struggles we face as God transform us from the old man into the new man.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verse 4 – <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“Wherein
they think it strange that ye <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>run not
with them to the same excess of riot</u></b>, speaking evil of you”</i> - Peter
tells of the hardship of trying to maintain friendships with people that are
still living und the devil’s grip.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Sometimes it’s hard to let go of family and friends that are bringing
you down.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Depending on who’s in your
circle of influence, some of our closest friends/family members are our
greatest enemies.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verse 5 – “<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Who shall <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>give account to him</u></b> that is
ready to judge the quick and the dead.”</i> - Peter asks a very important
question of the church.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Those of us that
have received grace are now stewards of that grace.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We are also responsible for everything that’s
connected to God’s manifold blessings which includes the truth (the gospel of
Jesus Christ). (Reference: II Timothy 4:1-5; Romans 12:1-2)<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verse 6 – <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“For, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>for this cause</u></b> was the gospel
preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men
in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.”</i> – Peter points
directly to the purpose of the church.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Verse 7- <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“But the end
of all things is at hand: <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>be ye
therefore sober, and watch unto prayer</u></b>.”</i> – Peter shifts the focus
from our lives on earth to our eternal reward.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Peter presents a spiritual declaration of independence to empower the
saints to maintain an attitude of expectancy that helps provide balance in our
lives.”<o:p></o:p></div>

we have an opportunity to see an OT encounter where God extends grace and mercy
to the entire nation of Israel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>According
to the text, God is imparting divine instructions to Joshua on how to
deal/resolve the issue at hand.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Subsequently,
God‘s instructions are very specific and concise. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: II Samuel 22:17-20; Psalms 46:1)</b> Joshua, whose name

The lesson aim is to <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>uncover</u></b>
the root causes of a broken heart.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More
importantly, the spiritual condition of a person’s heart contributes to his/her

Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18-19)</b> Joshua’s heart has been broken as result of the
defeat at Ai.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The defeat is not a result
of military incompetence, but is manifested because of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>disobedience</u></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Our
actions will either help or hurt us.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Subsequently, the works of our hands depend on the condition of our

folks that present themselves as being strong in the Lord.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Unfortunately, their strength is contingent
upon what’s going on in their lives at that moment.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Apropos the strength to which the Apostle
Paul is referring is not subject to our situation or circumstance. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Ephesians 6:10)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to encourage the believer to lean on the

on Your Mind?”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: 20pt;">T</span></i></b>here are a number of
approaches to extract one’s view on a particular subject matter.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All of which encourage all those involved to
carefully process what’s being presented.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>As we consider the topics of discussion that are atop the various media
sources, we can see the mass confusion arising from the mixed thoughts plaguing
the world. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
For those within academic realm the process is known as
“logical reasoning”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, if I were
looking at a situation or discussing an issue of concern from a biblical
perspective, I would strongly consider “what would Jesus do or say” about the
matter. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to evaluate and assess the mindset of believers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> B</span>elievers are encouraged in the Word to
be careful how we present ourselves to God and each other. In addition, we
should be fully aware and able to discern the daily struggle between flesh and spirit which affects how we
live our lives. (<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Reference: Romans
12:1-2</b>) <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The Apostle Matthew records Jesus’ appeal to HIS followers
to consider three major factors by which we as believers should live: giving,
prayer (forgiving), fasting. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
Matthew 6:1-18)</b> In addition the Lord instructs us to focus our minds on the
righteousness of God and not the things of the world. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Matthew 6:19-21)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
It is quite obvious that many of us put more energy into
what we wear; what we eat; where we live; or how much money we have or need to
make it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All of these are essential to
the natural man.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The Apostle Paul
suggests to the church to consider adopting the Christ way of thinking. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Phil. 2:5-8)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We can conclude that the opposite of
high-mindedness is humility.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Humility is
a spiritual characteristic that should guide our thinking.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
I Peter 5:5-6)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></b>However, Jesus wants
each of us to redirect our attention away from the flesh and consider a new way
of thinking. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Read verses 31-38)</b>
<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">31 What I'm trying to
do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you
can respond to God's giving. 32 People who don't know God and the way he works
fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. 33 Steep your
life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing
out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. 34 "Give
your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up
about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever
hard things come up when the time comes.” (MSG) </i></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“Internal
Affairs”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to validate the process that God uses to
bring HIS plan to fruition.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More
importantly, the earthly ministry of Christ was preceded by the courageous work
of John the Baptist.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>God used John’s
ministry to release a new dispensation for living a life pleasing unto God. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(References: Romans 12:1)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The next few weeks will be critical to our understanding of
living in the will of God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Before the
church can evangelize the lost, we must address the internal concerns that have
caused many to question the authenticity of the “kingdom of Heaven”. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Matthew 6:10) </b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Interestingly, Matthew’s account of John’s ministry lays the
foundation for a heavenly guided succession plan. The ministry of John the
Baptist is the 2nd crowning jewel in God’s master plan for spiritual
reformation upon the earth.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Parenthetically,
God released the blue prints for this New Testament work to the Prophet Isaiah
regarding the work and path of John the Baptist. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Isaiah 40:1-8)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></b>Subsequently,
John’s method and message would serve as the precursor to the impeccable work
of the Lord Jesus on the cross.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Matt 3:1-3<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
In those days came John the Baptist, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>preaching</u></b> in the wilderness of Judaea,<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<ul style="margin-top: 0in;" type="disc">

2 And saying, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>Repent</u></b>

is at hand.<o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias,
saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>Prepare</u></b> ye <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>the way</u></b>
of the Lord, make his <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>paths</u></b>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to warn saints of the negative impact
disobedience has on our lives. More importantly, we must refer to the word of
God for examples to prove that disobedience destroys lives.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><u>The future of the church hinges on the
willingness of the believer to “obey the voice of the Lord”.</u><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Our relationship with God grows stronger as
we wrestle to walk in total surrender to HIM.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>However, we cannot fulfill our God-given purpose if we are not willing
to walk in obedience to the voice of the Lord. <o:p></o:p></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;">
According to the text, Saul had
been anointed and appointed the first king over God’s people.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He had been given authority and power by God <u>to
rule over his people</u>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, Saul
is a perfect example of what it means to fall out of God’s will.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We all make mistakes. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Proverbs 24:16)</b> On the contrary, Saul was guilty of
disobedience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In fact King Saul was <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>rejected</u></b> (to spurn; to
disappear) by God because of his disobedience. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: I Samuel 15:26)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Disobedience is a silent killer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Saul
allowed the people and their disregard for theological leadership to influence
his decisions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Consequently, when you
ascend to a certain level of leadership and/or relationship with God, there is
a greater level of expectation required of you.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The church is a benefactor of God’s grace and mercy.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And we know God is the God of another
chance.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But, how long should you be
allowed to disobey God before HE confronts you?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Romans 6:1-2)</b> According
to Samuel, Saul had multiple opportunities to prove himself to worthy of the
kingship before God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: I Samuel 15:13-15)</b>
Unfortunately, for Saul, God requires total obedience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Saul tries to pass the blame for his errors
on to the people.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We’ve got to stop
playing the blame game.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All of us have
to be accountable for our own actions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Many
pray to God "not my will but thy will be done".<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>If nothing else, let Christ be an example for
walking in the will of God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Philippians 2:5-8)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Jesus was obedient unto death.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The act of obedience helps us stay in the
will of God. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Matthew 26:39)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></b></div>

Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“Clearing
up the Confusion and Confirming the Truth”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to clarify the truth about salvation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, we will learn the facts
about how “those that believe” receive the gift of salvation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Paul further explains that there’s nothing
else required of an individual to be saved other than confession of the mouth
and belief in the heart. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
Romans 10:9-10)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Many Christians
believe the Holy Bible is the authority that governs spiritual issues and
religious matters involving believers and non-believers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, Christianity is not a religion.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Subsequently, by secular definition
Christianity is a monotheistic religion based on faith in God and Jesus
Christ.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The theme of Romans 10 is “Israel <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>rejects</u></b> salvation through faith”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Conversely, Paul’s opening statement in this
10th chapter sets the tone for his message of truth to the gentiles
that “salvation is free” to all who believe.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Paul leads this missionary effort with two critical factors: his
“heart’s desire and prayer to God”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Both
are essential to soul winning. Paul expresses his desire for <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Israel</st1:place></st1:country-region> to be
saved.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Paul says he is praying to God
for <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Israel</st1:country-region></st1:place>
that they be saved.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The key to Paul’s
intercessory prayer is Israel’s salvation is his heart’s desire. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Psalms 37:4; James 5:16)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Paul’s message to this church concludes that each believer
is expected to accept and apply God’s word (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) to
their lives. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Romans 12:1-2)</b>
Paul confronts the Jews about their self-righteous behavior and attempt to use
religion to exclude others from the church (ekklesia).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Paul’s letter to this spiritually detached congregation
reveals that the Jews became their own worst enemy and fell short of “the glory
of God” because of unbelief and social-economic injustice.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Paul teaches that salvation is not connected to any group,
class, or congregation.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Paul’s presentation raises a very important
question. Can a person know God and not be saved?<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
(Review verses 1-4)<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<ul style="margin-top: 0in;" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;">“Brethren, my heart's <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">desire and prayer</b> to God for

Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“Called
by God to Deal with What’s Happening Around You”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to prove that believers are <u>called</u>
to the work of the ministry. More importantly, there are a very few believers
that have been <u>chosen</u> to go and rescue God’s people from the disparities
of their surroundings.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Matthew 22:14)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Interestingly, the church (ekklesia) is under a prophetic
mandate to reclaim the backslider and rescue the lost.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The church was established by God to “go and
teach the gospel of Jesus, and to make disciples for the kingdom of God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, we cannot accomplish this great task
without first understanding “what’s required of me as a believer”. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: Mark 8:34)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
church (ekklesia) must have a concern for all of God’s people that live and
work in and around the “temple”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Conversely,
the church must be willing to show love and compassion for the lost and
broken-hearted. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(References: Matthew
9:35 – Matthew 10:1)<o:p></o:p></b></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Nehemiah’s claim to fame is centered on his <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>willingness</u></b> to answer the <u>clarion
call</u> <u>(</u>an urgent call to action) to go and reclaim those that had
been redeemed by God and rebuild the city that been claimed for God’s people.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Subsequently, Nehemiah dedicated and
committed a season of his life to restoring the city and the inhabitants (a
remnant) of Jerusalem for God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What an
awesome responsibility! <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:
Ephesians 4:11-12)</b> Nehemiah answered the <u>clarion call</u> to reclaim,
rebuild and restore the things of God that had become broken. <o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
So often we hear of the plight of God’s people, but are not
moved to action.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>For one to have a heart
for God’s people, he/she must have a heart for God and a desire to walk in the
will of God for their lives by living out their God-given purpose.<o:p></o:p></div>

The lesson aim is to remind believers that our primary
objective in life is to work in our God-given purpose.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, we must not forget that we
have been sent by Jesus out into the vineyard to validate the authenticity of
HIS kingship.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Apropos, how we conduct
ourselves will have a positive or negative reflection on the one that has sent
us. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(References: St. John 13:35)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>

The overall theme of this text is exposing the core principals
of discipleship training.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Jesus has
given these chosen men various instructions on what to do and say as HIS
representatives.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>HE has led them through
various stages of spiritual growth by challenging their minds to think
victoriously before seeing any evidence of cure or change. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference:

Jesus equipped “them” with power to perform miracles.
Interestingly enough, Jesus realized that the <u>work</u> of the kingdom would
not be a cake walk, especially for these men he has just chosen to live the Kingdom agenda.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Through this example of
divine providence the Lord implements a very critical component for fulfilling
the kingdom assignment: <u>Team Work</u><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">

Determined to Wait on My Change”<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to reassure all that God will send relief.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More importantly, we are that of the
household of faith must remain confident that God is still in control.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Because of this fact, we must not waver in our
confidence, standing firm on our convictions. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(References: Hebrews 10:34-37)</b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The overall theme of this text is learning to overcome the
hardships we face as believers in God. The writer documents a somber moment in
the life of one of God’s greatest witnesses, Job. (Job 1:1)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>All throughout this documentary of hope Job
presents the realities of godly living.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>He categorizes each stage of life through examples of faith.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Therefore, his display of faith propels him
into the believer’s hall of fame. (Hebrews 11)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Job makes some very bold declarations that catapulted him above the
attacks of his family and friends.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>(Reference: Job 13:15)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In
comparison the Apostle Paul makes similar declarations that solidify his place
in the victor’s circle. (Reference: Romans 8:37; Philippians 4:11; II Timothy
4:7)</div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Job believed in his heart that the day would come when he
would be changed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He believed that
change would come to pass by way of natural death or divine healing and
deliverance.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Interestingly, Job’s faith
is the strongest factor working for him during this season of uncertainty.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thus, Job takes center stage along with
countless others that overcame adversity, hardship, calamities, and
persecution.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
As a result of his faith Job taps into the divine providence
of God and withdraws a revelation of divine healing. (Reference: Job 19:25-26;
Ezekiel 37:1-4)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Adversely, Job’s
question is not one of doubt.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He poses
the question to his faithless friends and uses this opportunity to redirect their
negative comments into a conversation of hope. Job also declares that God is
the God of the living.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And that God’s
power operates in and flows through people of faith.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Job 14:14 –“all the days of my appointed time will I wait,
till my change come.” KJV<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The greatest challenge we face is overcoming
impatience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Job plants his feet in the
cement of healing by taking a stance against his own fears and frustrations.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Final thought:<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Do you
have the spiritual capacity to wait on God?<o:p></o:p></div>

Today’s Discussion:<span style="mso-tab-count: 1;"> </span>“A
Recipe for Success Over Your Enemies”<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
The lesson aim is to show how the power of God is made
manifest through obedience.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>More
importantly, all believers will achieve great success if they are willing to
obey God’s divine instructions. According to several theologians, “the word
obey is related to the idea of hearing. Obedience is a positive, active
response to what a person hears”.<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(References: Luke
6:46-47; James 1:21-25)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Joshua and the children of Israel are preparing to claim the
land God promised to their father Abraham.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>However, their desire to be successful will come as a result of their
willingness to obey the voice/words of God.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>The successes in our lives may require us to work alone or in
collaboration with multiple believers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Nonetheless, full compliance is required of all those involved.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Parenthetically, an unwillingness to obey the
voice/words of God can close the door on your deliverance, healing and/or
blessings.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>(Reference: Joshua 5:6)<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Inasmuch, our relationship with God will
determine our level of obedience to HIS word. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Reference: John 2:3-10)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Interestingly, verses 13 through 15 represent an important
occurrence in the life of Joshua and the history of Israel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Joshua’s encounter with this unknown man
becomes a matter of life and death.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>According to the text, Joshua confronted the man and questioned his
purpose.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In my opinion we that are
serious about moving forward should learn from this test of spiritual
connectivity.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is vitally important
that we learn to discern why certain people have been placed in our path,
especially if they are standing in our way. In addition we must not invite them
into our purpose until we have interrogated them and asked the hard questions. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">(Review verse 15)</b><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Who are you?<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Why are you here?<o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<o:p> </o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><u>Special note:
Every question requires a response for confirmation and/or validation.<o:p></o:p></u></b></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
For the remainder of their journey Joshua and the Children
of Israel were able to defeat their enemies and claim their inheritance because
God gave them victory. All victories are accomplished through obedience to
God’s word.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Furthermore, obedience gives us access into the presence of
God<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The lesson aim is to encourage believers to check and
evaluate our place in God. More
importantly, we must conduct frequent “soul searching” evaluations. We must also monitor the condition of our
heart and mind. As believers we are in
the process of relocating to a permanent place in Christ Jesus. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The Apostle Paul’s opening statement in verse 14 reveals the
source of his commitment to “the work of the ministry”. He exclaims, “Christ’s love <b><u>constraineth</u></b> us”. (soon-ekh’-o:
to hold together; to compress; or arrest; to compel, perplex, afflict or
preoccupy) Paul’s testimony to the
church is significant and relevant. As
ambassadors for Christ we must <u>draw</u> from the purest source of strength known
to all mankind, the Love of Christ. <b>Reference: John 3:16; Ephesians 5:25;
Galatians 2:20) </b>Each of the
subsequent verses support Paul’s commitment to the ministry through his
understanding of the role of Christ in our lives.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Paul’s concern for the believer is that we present our new
address to others so they will know we’ve moved. Not in the physical sense of relocating, but
in the sense of spiritual transformation.
There must be evidence of our “new walk”. <b>(Ref:
Romans 6:4; 8:1</b>) We must be able to distinguish the difference between the
flesh and the spirit. We must understand
the three stages of the mind: natural <b>(I
Corinthians 2:14)</b>, carnal </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
(<b>I Corinthians 3:1-3;
Matthew 16:23; Colossians 1:21)</b> or spiritual <b>(Romans 12:2)</b>. As believers
we are expected to change how we view God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and
ourselves. According to Hebrews 11:6,
FAITH plays a huge role in the transformation process. FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY are essential to our
transformation. Each one of these
spiritual behaviors is designed to bring us closer to God through our
relationship with Jesus. Thus, Paul’s
statement in verse 17 serves as a starting point for those interested in going
further in their walk with Christ.</div>

The lesson aim is to encourage believers/saints/Christians
to share their testimony with others, especially non-believers. More importantly, church growth is driven by
the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. (<b>Acts 1:8</b>) The breakdown in
communication (the message) can be traced back to the inconsistency of the
message. (<b>John 15:25-27; I Corinthians 1:21-24</b>) As disciples we are expected to share our

The Apostle Paul is standing before the “council” to plead
his case and make a defense to them regarding the accusations/charges brought

approaches the matter very delicately and under the power of the Holy
Spirit. Paul has exhausted his energy
trying to convince the Jews that his assignment was both authentic and bona
fide. (<b>Romans 8:28-31; 10:14</b>) Paul feels it necessary to share his
testimony about the call of Jesus on his life.
He revisits the day he encountered Jesus on the road to <st1:city w:st="on">Damascus</st1:city> and confesses that his life prior to
this encounter was that of a persecutor of believers. We must be willing to share the process and
progress of our Christian journey. We
must also hear the voice of God as we step into the ring with
non-believers. The primary role of a
“witness” is to be persecuted because of our connection to Christ. However, there is one concern within the
church that continues to hinder our progress.
Fear is one of the main reasons why the saints don’t share their
